LIVE PAINTING PERFORMANCE
What is Ichigo Ichie Live Painting Performance?
Ichigo Ichie is a beautiful Japanese concept that translates to “one time, one meeting.” It is a reminder that every single moment we experience, and every person we meet, is a unique occurrence that will never happen in exactly the same way again.
Ichigo Ichie Live Painting Performance is an event where a large-scale artwork is created in real time before a live audience. It is a unique blend of visual art, narration, music and quiet meditative reflection that invites participants to step out of their daily routine and into a shared, present moment.
The performance takes place on a large sheet of paper laid on the floor, allowing the audience to see the work grow from their seats.
This project takes Ichigo Ichie philosophy and turns it into a physical experience. In a world where we often live in the past or the future,
Ichigo Ichie calls us back to the “now.”
The performance is a tribute to the unrepeatable nature of life, encouraging everyone in the room to value and
appreciate the present moment while it is happening.
I need your support.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Hi, I am Vit a visual artist known for a black–white–red abstract language and for transforming painting into a shared, performative experience. My work draws energy from contrast—abstract and solid, known and unknown—and invites audiences into mindful attention. Guided by the principle of ichigo ichie, each performance is unique, alive, and deeply human.
Be part of this unrepeatable moment – the Ichigo Ichie Live Painting Performance.

Ichigo Ichie Live Painting Performance is an event where a large-scale artwork is created in real time before a live audience. It is a unique blend of visual art, soundscape, and quiet reflection that invites participants to step out of their daily routine and into a shared, present moment.
The performance takes place on a large sheet of paper laid on the floor, allowing the audience to see the work grow from a bird’s-eye perspective or from their seats. It is an immersive experience where the atmosphere of the room, the silence, and the shared attention of everyone present become part of the creative process itself. For about 25 minutes, the space is transformed into a sanctuary of calm and connection.
Ichigo ichie is a beautiful Japanese concept that translates to “one time, one meeting.” It is a reminder that every single moment we experience, and every person we meet, is a unique occurrence that will never happen in exactly the same way again. Even if the same people gather in the same room tomorrow, the moment will be different.
This project takes that philosophy and turns it into a physical experience. In a world where we often live in the past or the future, ichigo ichie calls us back to the “now.” The performance is a tribute to the unrepeatable nature of life, encouraging everyone in the room to value and appreciate the present moment while it is happening.
The experience begins with the audience settling into a quiet, dimly lit space. As the narration starts, the artist begins to work on the paper on the floor using Japanese sumi ink. The audience witnesses every movement: the sound of steps on the paper, the rhythmic dip of the brush, and the ink as it meets the surface.
There is no rushing; the process is intentional and steady. A large circular form—the ring—slowly emerges. Throughout these 25 minutes, there is often a gentle voiceover that helps guide the thoughts of the audience, not by telling them what to think, but by inviting them to soften their minds and simply listen. The event concludes with a powerful closing ritual where the artwork is shared with everyone present.
The circle is the central motif of the performance, inspired by the Grand Ring of EXPO 2025 and the deep symbolism of the circle in many cultures. To us, the circle represents connection, continuity, and belonging. It is a shape with no beginning and no end, suggesting that we are all part of a larger, unbroken whole.
When you are “inside the circle” during the performance, the goal is to feel embraced and gathered. It is a reminder that, despite our individual struggles, no one is truly alone. We are all connected by the shared experience of being alive in this moment. The circle acts as a visual anchor for that feeling of unity.
While the performance is deeply meaningful, it has no connection to any specific religion, dogma, or organized philosophy. It is a secular, human experience designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of their personal beliefs.
The focus is simply on human connection and inner peace. It provides a “secular ritual”—a dedicated time to sit down, be quiet, and feel the happiness that comes from being fully present. It is about the simple, universal joy of breathing and being together in a peaceful environment.
Not at all. You don’t need to know anything about art history, painting techniques, or Japanese culture to be moved by this performance. In fact, the project is designed specifically for people who might feel overwhelmed by the “high art” world.
The language used is plain and simple, and the experience is felt rather than analyzed. Whether you are a student, a busy professional, or someone who hasn’t stepped into a gallery in years, the invitation is the same: come as you are, sit down, and allow yourself to have a moment of peace.
Ichigo Ichie Live Painting Performance is a non-profit free event for general public. The mission is to bring this experience to as many people as possible, with a specific goal of creating 100 Ichigo Ichie events in 2026 around the world. Because these performances are designed to be accessible and focused on community connection rather than profit, they do not generate the traditional revenue needed to sustain a global tour.
Donations allow us to cover the essential costs—venues, travel, high-quality materials, and event production—without having to charge high ticket prices that might exclude people. It turns the project into a community-funded mission, where those who believe in the importance of peace and connection help make it a reality for others. Please, support us – click on the “Donate” button and choose any amount. Thank you.
Supporting the project is an invitation to become part of the “circle” yourself. Depending on your level of support, you can receive:
VIP Invitations: A chance to attend a live performance as a special guest.
Online Access: High-quality recordings of the performances so you can experience the calm from anywhere in the world.
Original Fragments: A piece of an Ichigo Ichie painting sent directly to you, so you can own a part of this global mission.
Most importantly, you get the satisfaction of knowing you are helping to create 100 moments of peace in a world that truly needs them. Please, support us – find the link below.
We are always looking for new partners, festivals, galleries, libraries, churches, temples, and community spaces to host the Ichigo Ichie Live Painting Performance. The technical requirements are intentionally kept simple so that the focus remains on the experience. If you represent a venue or a community that would benefit from a moment of “ichigo ichie,” please reach out to us to discuss how we can bring the circle to you.
